How did you find all the different contributing writers of Not That Bad? And how did you go about deciding the order in which the essays would appear in Not That Bad?

Roxane Gay I solicited writers I admire and respect who I knew had interesting things to say about rape culture. I also had a public call for submissions and received 330 submissions from which I chose 15 or 16 of the essays. In terms of the order, I just went with my gut instinct. I started the collection with Aubrey Hirsch's essays because it encapsulated, so well, what rape culture is about and why it is so terrible for women.
