No, but I liked it better starting at the beginning

Thanks everyone for your answers! I bought this book at BookCon when I met the author and wasn't sure if I should wait until I read the other books first.

Well, it's not absolutely necessary to read the first 3 books, and it can be read as stand-alone; however, in my opinion, I think don't think you can really get a full, well-rounded insight into Decker. I think it is important to know his background, to understand his personality and to experience the events of his past that shaped him as he is presently. This book gives you a snippet of information about Decker's past, but you will miss a great deal of crucial, detailed information and past events. This book was good, but the previous books were much more exciting and action-packed.

No you don't have to read the previous three novels. His history is conveniently and briefly referred to in this novel. Read this novel!!!!
