Let me start by saying I love John Sanford's books. Virgil Flowers is my favorite now, but I still like Lucas. I'm half way through this book and still not interested. I checked here on Good Reads to see the reviews and they are all 4 and 5 stars and talking about how exciting it is. Is it just me?

I can't "feel" Lucas at all, he seems stilted and wooden, perhaps that is the result of the quality of writing in this book, which is basically bad. Characters mirror each other in the dialogue and I'm finding more cliches. I'm bored to tears at not even a third of the way into the book. It's by far the worst book I've read all year.(less)
