There might be a smidge too much sex for middle schoolers! Kat Howard's section in particular gets a little graphic.

I am going into 8th grade this year and I read this book and was comfortable with it, but I am very responsible and mature. It is, in general, a not disturbing book but there are some sad/scary bits, and a fair amount of sex scenes but most of them aren't very graphic. It just depends on the person :)

I'm in grade 9, and I've recently started reading this for a historical project. It is such a good book, and yes, it can get a little bit graphic, but you should be asking if your middle school child is mature enough to read it.
But seriously, it is such a good book. Highly recommended.

I would say no to sixth graders and seventh graders, because of the scenes involving the second and fifth queens. But I would think that students in grade eight should be able to read it.

I would rather recommend it after the age of 14. I don't think the depth of suffering and political intrigues the women faced will be caught beforehand. The bedroom scenes aren't to naughty but rather disgusting because of Henry VIII's poor health. But it also depends where you are from. I know American a little more prude in that regard than most Europeans.

That naughty Kat Howard!!!
