A Goodreads user asked Kasie West:

Hi Kasie, what do you do when you have a bad day? For example life at home with my family is causing issues to rise, like having the phone taken away or being to controlling over me. I get tired of it and school just gets worse everyday. I almost fall asleep in my classes and I have to go get help with homework even though I dont need it. Any advice to get through the darkness and into the light? Your books inspire!

Kasie West I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. I feel for you. I remember being a teenager and feeling controlled by my parents. It's hard. I know that now is a time in life where you are trying to become the person you want to be independent of your parents. Unfortunately that comes with growing pains for both you and your parents. See, your parents are used to you being a child and they have a hard time letting go, too. Just know that it gets better. Try to see their side too and hopefully it will help them see yours. Try to understand it's hard for us to watch our babies grow up and we want to keep them as safe as possible for as long as possible. And tell them you understand that. Then maybe they'll listen to your side too. If that doesn't work, just hang in there. One day at a time. Find your light in the little things that make you happy. Enjoy the moments you can. Know that the future is there for you and you will get there if you just hang in there. Much love to you.
