Not a question? but a thank you for Everybody Was So Young. Just finished it with tears and much joy. Read Honoria’s book twice in the 80s. Your book made me love the Murphys more, made me angrier at Hemingway’s betrayal, made me fed up with Fitzgerald’s childishness. I know them, now, a little, because of your loving scholarship and hard work and artistry. All the best. Many fetes.
Amanda Vaill
Thank YOU, Tim, for this lovely message. I loved writing this book because it allowed me to spend time with these alluring people; and it makes me so happy to think that you felt the same way about reading it.

Dear Amanda Vaill, I am writing from Rowman & Littlefield because we’ll soon be publishing Dateline—Liberated Paris: The Hotel Scribe and the Invasion of the Press, by Ronald Weber. Might you consider providing an endorsement that we could use on the back cover? Amanda Vaill:
About ten years ago my wife bought eight letters, written in 1926, at a flea market in the south of France. The woman who sold them to us had only one tooth. The letter writer was Claude Blanchard, a young French journalist who went on to become a front-page foreign correspondent with Paris-Soir. And now, manuscript completed, I'm looking for an agent interested in good narrative non-fiction! Advice?

Amanda Vaill:
Dear Ms Vaill I'm a New Zealand historian, and the author of several books on the Spanish Civil War. I admired "Hotel Florida" and plan to quote from it in my next book, a biography of Doug Jolly, the NZ surgeon who operated on Gerda Taro at Brunete. I'd love to know more about your sources of information for characters such as the US nurse Irene Goldin. Is there a secure way to discuss this?
