Goodreads asked Jay Cutts:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jay Cutts I write in a really hot room. Oh, wait. Inspired. Ok. The answer is "who knows". That's why it's inspiration. Something I see, something I think of. Observing a person. Wondering what would happen if...

Death by Haggis was written based on an "assignment." A friend and I decided to take turns writing parts of the story, a couple sentences at a time. He started and I simply followed his lead. That worked.

So if you're having trouble getting inspired, have someone give you an assignment. How you deal with the assignment will come from your own creativity.
