Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Clare Mackintosh The year I joined the police there was a hit-and-run in which a nine-year-old boy was killed. The offender was never charged, despite a massive investigation which lasted several years. It left a profound effect on me: I couldn't imagine how the driver could live with themselves, knowing what they'd done, and I wondered how a mother could survive losing a child in such circumstances.
