Chey :-) asked Elizabeth Eulberg:

What inspired you to become an author? (I really want to become an author when I grow up so also any tips)? :)

Elizabeth Eulberg Hi Cheyenne! I always loved to read as a kid, but never thought I could one day be an author. (It still shocks me!). I was always telling myself stories, even as an adult when I was commuting to work. I was always thinking about writing, but never sat down to write. It was the author Dav Pilkey who told me that I really should write. Once I finally confessed to him that I was thinking about it, he wouldn't drop it until I finally sat down to write.

That's the biggest thing about being an author - sitting down and getting the words down. I know that seems obvious, but the only way a book is going to be written is if you sit down and get it done. There are days I'm tired or lazy, but I know I have to write. Being on deadline helps! I always give myself a weekly goal, be it word count during a first draft, or pages during a revision and then give myself a treat if I hit it! Cupcakes are always a good motivation.

But the most important thing about being an author is NEVER GIVE UP!

Thanks for your question and happy writing!
