Betty Wright Absolutely. I don't read a lot of poetry as well but I can't put this book down. I've seen the book described as novel-in-verse and I agree.
Jovon I would suggest trying the audio version as well. There is definitely a story to follow and its one that many can relate to.
Elizabeth It is a must read. The poems are clear and a wonderful way to tell the story. As you read, the poems translate so well into prose.
Anita Delp I highly recommend the audio version whether you are accustomed to reading poetry or not. Having been read by the author, all the emotion, emphasis, and effect is placed just where it should be. You can't miss the meaning and the feeling behind the words, which are so beautifully written.
Rachael Sage Yes! The audio version, read by the author, is an amazing way to take in this story– and to realize that her prose is like poetry and her poetry like prose. ;)
Jana I don't read or even like poetry, but it's a more narrative kind of poetry, and it was super easy to get into the writing style for me. Definitely give it a try!
Carrie This was a great book, you don't need to be a lover of poetry...wonderful story and written in a verse well suited to any reader!
Izzy Yes! I was worried I wouldn't like it because I thought it would be written in the kind of poetry where everything is vague and you lowkey have no idea what the poem is about, but this book wasn't like that at all.
Bill Keefe If you read at all, you should read this book. Even better, listen to the audiobook. The words sing!
Dominique i think you would get pretty bored of it
Sasha Definitely! I don't like poetry at all, but this book is great! I listened to it, I suggest you do the same! And not understanding one word of Spanish, I truly enjoyed the Spanish poems!
Meredith I listened to the audiobook, and I had no idea it was in verse until I was done. The poetry was written and performed so well that it just seemed natural. I would definitely give the audiobook a try.
Valerie Hartman yes. It is a great story.
