I've written stories since I was a kid. Most of them became songs. If I hit a wall with the story I'm working on, I dig into my filing cabinets and read some of the songs and short stories from the past. Sometimes that helps me move forward, other times it takes me in another direction, but it always gets my creative juices flowing.
