David G. Believe it or not, this one is even better.
Kay I've read almost all of Macintyre's books and this is one of the best. The one that got me hooked (and still my sentimental favorite) is The Man Who Would Be King: The First American in Afghanistan (2004) - an unusual book on an unusual topic. Turns out, Kipling's story was partially based on an eccentric American adventurer.
