After reading DARE ME, I looked for your other novels. Some were written in completely different eras. What attracted you to writing about those time periods and do you think you'll ever go that far back again for a setting?

Yes! My first four novels are all set in the mid-20th century. I've always been in love with that era--I think from growing up watching Golden-Age Hollywood movies. I still write short stories pretty regularly in that period (most recently for IN SUNLIGHT AND IN SHADOW, an anthology based on Edward Hopper paintings). Maybe a novel again some day!

Hi Megan. I hit return and my question got sent to you before I was done. Anyway, I wanted to ask you what you wrote your Ph.D. dissertation on? I guess you can tell I'm from Ann Arbor :-) All the books you've written and I ask you about your Ph.D. I'm looking forward to the Turnout. I've been an adult ballet dancer for 40+ years now. Cheers!
