I like that at one level this is just a simple story of a guy trying to outrun his life but if you dig a little deeper there is a fair amount of social commentary hidden in the main character's obsessive self refection, which is a neat trick when you think of it.(less)

Jay Steinberg HIs obsessive self-reflection about what, his height? For some mysterious reason, that came up again and again. I found it vapid and shallow.
