Hello! I really love Three Dark Crowns! I picked up One Dark Throne within a few days of its being published, and once I finished it I was really sad that I was going to have to wait so long for the next one (no rush, of course!) Is there a reason the queens are born on/near the December Solstice? Does it hold any special meaning, either for you or the island?

It’s just another strange, magical aspect of the queens. They’re always sent around Beltane in the spring and born near the solstice in the winter.
