Alice MacDonnell

What age group is this appropriate for? Is there anything in it that would not be recommended for younger teens and such? I read Uprooted and, aside from the dark theme, it was good for early teens. However, there was a two page sex scene in it which put it in the adult-age bracket (in my opinion). Is there anything like that in this book?

Truly Bookish Unlike Uprooted, there are no sex scenes in Spinning Silver. There are, however, two marriages and heavy expectations of performing in the marriage bed and producing heirs. One character jumps on a bed to simulate the sounds of sex for the benefit of those who are listening and another character laments on the number of men and women who want to have sex with him. I would say this is okay for more mature teens.
George These days, marketing a book as YA doesn't offer a promise of no sex scenes, although I haven't seen straight-out pornography like Laurell K. Hamilton's recent stuff. I'd expect that whatever Novik does with sex here--I admit I've forgotten those 2 pages--can only be good for a sexually aware teen,
