Sarah asked this question about The Boy in the Striped Pajamas:
I haven't read the book, but I saw the movie, and the end, the Nazi & his wife discover that their son went into the camp, is likely dead, and Nazi mama is crying while Nazi dad is consoling her. Is this supposed to illicit sympathy for the Nazi parents, who's son was "accidentally" killed? I found the movie truly appalling.
