Every book is complete in itself.
However there is an ongoing character arc, especially of the relationship between Molly and Daniel. It would certainly be wise to start at the beginning.

My name is Gylfie, and I have started writing a mystery book, about a 11-year-old girl who helps the local police solve the mystery of who killed her brother. Do you have any tips on how to make the story super interesting, and grab the reader's attention in the first paragraphs?

Hello, Ms. Bowen. As an avid fan of Molly Murphy, I generally wait for paperback editions, but this past December, I couldn't resist diving into "Away In A Manger" while waiting for Christmas to arrive(Thank you!). "The Edge Of Dreams" is next in my to-read list, so I hope to be certain, "Time Of Fog And Fire" will be set in early 1906, won't it? If so, I look forward to Molly's account of a certain historic disaster!
