Hannah M. asked Roshani Chokshi:

Hi Roshani, I was wondering if you have any story ideas such as characters, items, or places that you've thrown out or given up on that I can use for one of my stories? The story that I'm thinking of is about an island where all story bits end up if they are thrown out or given up on. I've asked other authors so I can get a variety and some truth to the story. It's fine if you don't want to share any. Thanks. ~Hannah

Roshani Chokshi What a lovely idea! I wish you all the luck with it. Here's the thing, I never know that an idea I've thrown away is one I won't come back to later. My advice (which you may totally disregard) to you would actually be to look up "writing cliches" online and take that list and put this on your island. For example, tropes like a character describing themselves in the mirror/books that start with the character waking up from a dream! etc...and do remember that tropes exist for a reason. Writing something trope-y isn't bad at all because there's a reason we all do it. When done well, they've got lots of emotional resonance. Good luck!
