Ruel asked Jason R. Koivu:

What's your favorite book about writing?

Jason R. Koivu On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King...and I'm not even what you'd call a Stephen King fan. I read this book before I read anything else by him.

It's the story of one writer's journey from nothing to the absolute heights of, well, Kingdom. You won't learn anything about grammar or composition, but his advice is fantastic. His anecdotes are engrossing. Like all other writers-on-writing books I've read, he encourages prospective writers to simply "write, write, write," but coming from him it feels less like empty cheerleading and more like a command on high. I mean, after all, who better to extoll the virtues of continual, non-stop writing than a man who can't seem to stop?
