Alice Good question! I noticed this discrepancy too, but don't have an explanation for it. Another that I found: Cyril tells Alice he's never set foot out of Ireland, but a few chapters earlier he mentioned that he went to the south of France with Charles and his third wife.
. . . _ _ _ . . . I have the same question. Perhaps he means his stepfather's second trial? But still the way he mentions it makes me think that it has to be relevant to the New York incident
