Sonja Stone Hi Kelly! Desert Dark is appropriate for 7th and 8th graders, and has been on several middle school summer reading lists. There is no sex, alcohol or drug use, and no profanity (beyond the H word). The violence occurs off-screen (Nadia is recruited after another student dies).
