The Pluto Snitch series is fantastic. I love this time period and Raissa is a strong woman in a time of great challenges as well as great changes. How do you manage to separate these characters from the cast of the Sarah Booth Delaney series?

Carolyn Haines That's a great question. When I start writing a book, I'm transformed to that location. The characters are so very real to me. I'm kind of like a scribe who follows along behind them, writing what they do and say. Of course I have to manage the plot, but the characters are distinctive. It's also helpful that Pluto's Snitch is in 1920 and Sarah Booth and gang are contemporary. I've always been an avid reader, and books have saved my life more than once. I just give myself to the story and let it all play out in my imagination.
