Why did Azrael raise Lan from the dead? Wasn't everyone who was raised just a mirror of what traits and purpose he gave them, and would never be "their own" person with true "free will"?

His feelings got into the way of her making.He didn't want to change her even after death. Hence, the free will, the appetite (sexual at least), the memories. He himself probably didn't know what to expect.
P.S: If it was me and I knew Lan would turn out so perfectly, I would have changed her a long time back... she didn't eat much any way.(less)
