A Goodreads user asked Roxane Gay:

I am an aspiring writer and my main interest is memoir/essay, but I can't get past this nagging feeling not-so-deep-inside me that no one gives an EFF what I have to say, which is hindering my productivity. Have you ever felt this/how did you get past it? If not, do you have any thoughts? P.S. I love you and if you actually write Batgirl I will scream.

Roxane Gay Your job as a writer is to tell your story in such a way that people will be interested. Everyone worries that they don't have an interesting story to tell, myself included. But you have to find a way to get past that and get to the work of writing.
