Lois Lowry Ah, an unanswered question. But the book ends with that hope that Kira's world will change; and the next book...MESSENGER...makes clear that it has. So the little singer would no longer be a victim. Let's hope that she ended up highly respected and happy

I love your book, Number the Stars, and use it often with my students (I'm an elementary teacher!). Where did you get the idea for the storyline and the characters? It is such a beautiful story about such a sad time.

Why did you let the movie deviate so drastically from such a brilliant book? The trailer depicts romance and scenes that in no way appear in the book. It looks very "divergent" to me. Are you happy with how the movie turned out? Is it worth watching?
