I came here just to see if this upset anyone else. Poor Punch. I know anna had a lot going on but not getting her kitty to the vet was unconscionable. and equally unconscionable? A J Finn not letting us know for sure Punch is okay. Anna summed up the other ways she was taking care of things...to not just throw in a mention that somehow she'd gotten Punch to a vet and he was okay just was really upsetting to me.

This loose end is still bothering me. Punch was in practically every chapter, a constant friend in Anna's lonely life. Punch was also somewhat responsible for Anna's lightbulb moment near the end of the book. I wish we knew who took him to the vet, or if one made a house-call, and that he was back to his old self.

This! How can we be left without knowing that she got the poor cat some care??
Jackie Robinson
This bothered me too! I’m assuming that because it wasn’t addressed again that he was fine. As he was only limping and comforting Anna during the last stages of the book, I like to believe that he made a full recovery! (I’m also a sucker for animals in books and have to make sure they’re okay!)

I decided that immediately after the book concluded she took him to the vet (or got a vet to come to her) and got his leg taken care of.

The entire time, I'm waiting to see if Punch is okay. For a moment I was afraid Ethan fell on him! I enjoyed the story, but I can't help but to take away a star for dragging us into the story of poor Punch and not giving us closure.
