Antonio S. asked M.D. Cooper:

curious does that mean there could be Rika's book on audible. also curious any chance Rika will in the future regain more of her old human body back. i know she right now feels she can do more good as a cyborg. but i guess the idea of her never knowing the feeling of having her organic body completely back sound hard to endure. ?

M.D. Cooper Hi Antonio, Rika Outcast is being narrated right now! OK, maybe not *right* now. But it'll be out in March at some point.

Rika's decision to remain as a cyborg is partially out of fear and a lack of self esteem. She tried to be a regular person (as much as she could) and was reviled. But when she went back to being a cyborg killing machine, people accepted her and she had value.

This has messed up her self image so that she thinks its what she's meant to do. Underneath she worries that if there's no one left for her to fight, then she has no more value.

Underlying that is how she feels (as do many people in similar situations) that she is different from the norm, and draws a distinction between "them" and "us". She does this to protect herself, but it also makes it so that she doesn't ever think she can be one of "them".

However, when she understands how modded people in the ISF are, she'll gain a new perspective, I suspect ;)
