In recent history there are some authors that were not pleased with the movie adaptation of their novels (for example P. L Travers or Ursula K. Le Guin). What are your thoughts about the movie?

Hi Lois! We read The Giver with our 6th grade students towards the end of the school year. We've always left the ending of the book open to their interpretation, because you used to approach it in the same fashion. Now that you've come out and said how you intended it to be interpreted, do you think we should still go with an open ending?
