Ashleyd asked Polly Holyoke:

Ok a student and I have been arguing about how to say "Robry". Please phonicate it for us... is it Ro-br-i; Ro-br-e; Rob-ri; or Rob-re?

Polly Holyoke Oh dear, I really did a terrible job of creating names teachers and readers could pronounce, and I do apologize for that. I do say Roebree in my mind, but really, with the B and R consonants back to back like that, it should be Rahbree. My editor calls Nere NEAR, I call her Nair, and my UK editor calls her Nerie! Nere was named for the Nereid, which were the daughters of Poseidon, but that explanation got cut from the book, and I thought the Nereid were pronounced Naried.

Suffice it to say, I will do a better job with naming characters in the future, and thank you for taking the time to ask!

Warmly,
Polly
