Alice asked this question about Kisscut (Grant County, #2):
Do ALL of Karin Slaughter's books feature as deeply disturbing material as The Good Daughter? I really enjoyed reading the book generally (as well as Blindsighted), but my goodness, do they have to go THERE? I want to read more of her books, but I don't know if I can handle the depths to which she takes her stories. I'm still shuddering weeks after reading The Good Daughter.
Dimple Jackson Yeah they all are, give or take 3 to 4 which are on the tamer side. If you still like to read her work but not with so much burtality, I'd suggest you…moreYeah they all are, give or take 3 to 4 which are on the tamer side. If you still like to read her work but not with so much burtality, I'd suggest you read Indelible, A Faint Cold Fear, Cop Town, Peices Of Her, The Last Widow. These are not really related to sensitive trigger topics like sexual violence, rape and child abuse. (If I remember well enough.... sorry!) However the crime scenes are still in detail, graphic and violent. But not too much of it compared to the other books. Pretty Girls followed by The Silent Wife, would top the list and shoot over infact. Extreamly violent sexual crimes captured in graphic detail. The Good Daughter is only 50% there in comparison. I'll tell you one thing.... Karin Slaughter's books are NOT for the faint hearted. I think it comes with that mentioned in the reviews printed on the first or last page of the book. If it doesn't then it should, like you find on the roller coaster rides.... 'NOT for pregnant women and people with a heart condition or hypertention'!!
But damn, I love her books, her skill at plotting, pacing and graphic descriptions are just mind blowing. Her efforts on medical research are comendable. (less)
