Kate Elliott Lindsey, oh, that's an interesting speculation! But no, Charles and Tess are the children of the same parents, the ones who were killed in the "accident" -- Tess was quite young when it happened (Charles was obviously already an adult). I don't think I give any more information about them than the reference to the accident and Charles's explanation.
