A.P. Hofleitner Luckily, I've had my grandfather's memoirs to guide me through this book. The only parts that were missing was what people might have thought and felt. Those parts slowly grew as my editor, Paige Gasser, kept making notes next to sections such as: "How did this character feel during this? What where they thinking." - In that sense, the first version was a skeleton of just all things my grandfather heard and saw and I slowly filled in the blanks that he didn't address in the memoirs he left behind.
