John asked:

I'm about 400 pages deep in Wizard & Glass and love it. I enjoy unexpected twists and turns in this series so Rolands tale is all good to me. I wonder if Steinbeck is an inspiration to King? Because to me the flash back reads like some sort of Mid World version of East of Eden. Some of it drags a bit, oh well. My only real gripe with it thus far is that Alain is underdeveloped.
