It depends on the maturity of the teen… Many adults would probably struggle with the subject matter, too. Readers must confront very heavy subject matter- graphic depictions of sexual violence, in particular. I read this book at age 15 and was prepared to process the difficult subject matter; it was one of the most formative books I’ve ever read. However, people of all ages and backgrounds should be aware that the text is extremely heavy in some places,
