I think you could benefit from reading the demon king series but I also think the book is great without that and you can jump right in if you want. But you don't have to believe me a 11 year old who loves to read.

I think this is a great starting point for new readers of the series, and they aren't technically the same characters, so although you might want to read the Seven Realms, there is no rule that you must, like there's no rule that you can't read The Heros of Olympus series before reading the Percy Jackson series. It really just depends on how you would like to approach the characters, and how you would like to understand the points of view from the first-generation or second generation. It really depends on your preference.
