Read everything. Read all the time. Read. Read. Read. Why aspire to write if one is not a reader? It's like: someone wanting to be a chef who doesn't like to eat; someone wanting to be a ballerina who doesn't love to dance; someone wanting to be an athlete who hates to exercise. I can't think of a worse course bound for failure than being a writer who doesn't absolutely love to read.
