It is refreshing to see female…moreI think the author did an excellent job depicting a close, loving, platonic relationship between the female characters. It is refreshing to see female characters who are not afraid to be physically (but not sexually) close. Many of the female students I teach who come to the US from other countries have this kind of connection with their friends. It's a kind of intimacy that seems, sadly, not to be as accepted in "white America" as it is in some other cultures.(less)
