Goodreads asked Alvaro Hans:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Alvaro Hans It all started way back in 2003 ,with my random hit on the ‘striking similarity’ between one Greek word ‘Palaios’ and another word ’Pazhaya’ in another language(lets call it’X Language’ for now).I didn’t like to brush aside the striking similarity ,as just a ‘chance resemblance’. I decided to delve deep and undertook a through research into the probable connection between the two seemingly different unconnected languages .
It was indeed very exciting to find the following:
Greek-'X Language'-Comments
1.Pelazo -Palasu -Old in both Gk& XL
2.Palai-Palai -‘Distant’ in both Gk& XL
3.Gk has a doublet ‘tele’-XL has doublet’tholai’ - Note sound similarity
4.PIE root’kwal’-XL root’thol’ -Note that‘tele’ can come from’tholai’but not from’kwal’
5.The 'X Language' words, with 'tholai'now in use are
Tholaipesi- Telephone
Tholaikatchi- Television
Thol kappiam- Old book
Thol porul-ancient object -
But Gk has no such equivalent words in use now.
TO SUM UP :
GK ‘palaios’ means old -XL ‘palaia’ means ‘old’
GK ‘palaios’ has a doublet ‘tele’-XL ‘palaia’ has a doublet ‘tholai’
GK ‘palaios’ derived from ‘*kwal ‘-XL ‘tholai ‘derived from ‘thol’
GK ‘pelazo’ means ‘old’-XL ‘palasu’ means ‘old ‘ .
GK has other words like 'geraios' and 'arkhios' for 'old'
XL has 'kila' which compares with 'geraios' and is used in the same
sense as in GK ie referring to 'old people' XL also has’akazh’ meaning’dig’(ground for buried old objects). This word compares with GK ‘arkhios’.
From the fore-going ,there appears to be no escape from the conclusion, that the words GK'palaios' and XL'palaia' are genetically linked.
This finding fueled my research which has blossomed into this book finally.
