I just finished chapter two “fire free”. At the end of the chapter, it gives the explanation of the usage of “fire free” and it had something to do with flies on his food- I just don’t understand what he is talking about. Can someone explain this to me, please?

Monika Turner Fire Free seems to be a direct translation of the German phrase "Feuerfrei" which colloquially and loosely translates to "Open Fire" as in a combat order. I took that reference as a humorous way of saying that was the way to deal with the fly problem.
