First off, I need to thank you so much for this beautiful book! I just finished reading it (I could not put it down), and I'm so thankful to have had this experience. The message was so encouraging and uplifting, and Naomi's story was so compelling. I hope to read more about her story and the ongoing search for her sister. My question is: what was the main thing that inspired you to write your first work of fiction?
Rene Denfeld
I had an extremely difficult childhood and every day after school I'd go to the public library, which was my sanctuary. I learned early about the power of story and imagination to save lives—the poetry of the books became the poetry of my life, the ability to find hope even in despair. In writing fiction I feel I can capture that poetry of life and the lessons I've learned. This novel was especially inspired by my twenty years as a foster-adoptive parent, as well as my own career as an investigator :)

Crazy quick story then a question. Me and my wife had randomly decided to name our son Arden while I was literally reading this book. Then the end came and my jaw dropped. I immediately told my wife the amazing coincidence and how significant the narrator's name was for the character of the story... and oh yeah he was executed! Was there any meaning behind choosing the name Arden or was it chosen randomly?
