I love the importance put on languages in The Magicians, but I've noticed a certain old language popping up pretty frequently. Any particular reason Old Church Slavonic is so often mentioned throughout the series?

Lev Grossman I spent a couple of years studying Russian after college and in grad school, and when you study Russian you kind of feel OCS looming in the darkness behind you, mysteriously, just out of reach ... I felt sure that there must be power in it.
