Where you as attention hogging as Gooney Bird Greene when you were younger? What motivated you to write her stories?

Lois Lowry No, I was very very shy. I made her into the kind of child I wished I could have been.

More Answered Questions

Loretta Farnsworth
Loretta Farnsworth asked Lois Lowry:

One of my favorite books you've written is The Silent Boy. As I read it, I found it both beautiful and heart-wrenching because I have family members with mental disabilities. Did you draw on any personal experiences as you wrote this book?

Mack Wing
Mack Wing asked Lois Lowry:

Do the leaders of the different communities have any idea there are other villages who are missing a key element of humanism as well?

Carly Rodgers
Carly Rodgers asked Lois Lowry:

How do you feel about the movie being so different from the book in so many aspects? (Especially the age difference.) The fact that they were twelve was so intriguing to me in your book because of how young and vulnerable they were. I was a little disappointed that they changed so much of your original story that made it so defining.
