Also, she mentions that she contracted this disease from the head of a trading company. I think she was referring to Akiko's father (Noa's college girlfriend's father). It was mentioned several times that he owned a trading company.
I think this was a subtle way to show the disparity in the fathers. Noa's father, considered a low-life Yakuza in Japanese society, contrasted with Akiko's father a wealthy, respected owner of a trading company. Yet, it is Akiko's father who contracts and (knowingly?) infects Hana with Aids.(less)
