Julia I think so... just maybe don't let him/her read the opening to Buttercup's baby (the Buttercup section) as there are sex "references"... pretty subtle (and one character is very naive about it), but to a 9-year-old, it might prompt some questions. Just maybe look over the first couple pages of the Buttercup section yourself (I haven't read this in a few years) and see if you want your 9-year-old to skip over it.
