You're not actually the first person to ask about that. In fact my first concept for The Magician's Land opened with a long sequence of Quentin at the palazzo. But I felt like a) we kind of did that in TMK but more importantly b) it was a nice gesture from Josh, but transferring ownership of a Venetian palazzo probably isn't that easy in practice. I couldn't think of a way for Q to take ownership of the palazzo w/out Josh there to sign it over.

I adored The Magicians, but the first five or six people I lent/recommended it to after reading it hated it - they found the main character unlikable, which has never been a deal-breaker for me, but apparently was for them. Was it actually your intention to create an unsympathetic protagonist and see how that worked, or do you think (like I kind of do) that my friends are just tripping?

I could see an entire additional book all about Plum's adventures after the end of The Magician's Land. She's a fantastic character, perhaps less flawed than the others, but with a fierceness that will get her into all kinds of adventures. Any thoughts on a "spin-off" to the trilogy focused on her?
