Zoe asked:

I could not finish this book after three times trying. I enjoyed Robbins' writing style at first but quickly grew bored of the descriptions of the female anatomy. Vaguely brings to mind the obsession 13 year old boys have with titties. For entertainment purposes, if anyone can find me the quote about her boobs being as perky as caffeinated dogs, I'd be v grateful. I have skimmed the book all night and can't find?

Mary Kelley Sorry you lost it. My favorite among so many is about her red hair looking like ironed catsup. Mjkelley. Ironed catsup. Who thinks like that. Only Tom Robbins.
Heather i dont know that passage, but i do remember reading several disturbing passages where robbins seems both obsessed by, and unable to comprehend, female menstruation
Rick Harsch As a male writer, I have to say that one of the great questions of literature for a man is how to make use of yet disguise the obsession that began around 13 or so (usually younger) with titties. We needn't be better than we are, but we need to find what's funny about ourselves as we are and use that to contibute humor and insight or just humor, but at least get the reader to say, 'Despite the obsession of a 13 year old with titties, the author...'
Kelley Stoneking I just read the book, and I did not see that comparison. However, I did find this one (perhaps you misremembered?): [B]eneath her No-Nukes-Is-Good-Nukes T-shirt, her astonishingly round breasts jiggled ever so slightly, like balls balanced on the noses of Valium-eating seals.
Alana I started reading it the other day and had to put it down after hearing about her boobs a third time. I'm perplexed because I really, really despise his writing style but I still want to keep reading.
Reenie Kennedy-mooney Someone has mistaken the trees for the forest.
andy Honestly, I was a bit put off by that as well (cis male here), but I believe it related to Bernard's search of true love, as base as it is. It's still one of my favorite stories, but in a more modern context, I don't know. I'll have to re-read.
