The first book, novel, I read by you is "Midwives." It was chosen as an Oprah Club Read. Out of all your books, which novel did you enjoy writing most of all?
Chris Bohjalian
I think I tend to enjoy writing my historical fiction more than my contemporary literature. I love losing myself in another era and I am fascinated by the research.
But there are exceptions. I loved researching and writing my next novel, "The Flight Attendant," because:
-- I will never lose my awe of aviation and the miracle of flight;
-- Flight attendants have amazing stories about how ill-behaved some passengers are;
-- I had to research Russian and American espionage and spy craft;
-- My main character is a mess, a scarred alcoholic with bad judgment and reckless self-disregard. I loved being in her head -- and, yes, researching how to make the perfect Negroni, Bellini, and Margarita.

Wow Chris! I love the description of THE PRINCESS OF LAS VEGAS, and I will absolutely get my hands on that. It sounds very intriguing. I hope you didn't take offense when I said you have a sensitivity about you that while reading your books, I wouldn't be able to tell if you are female or male! That was meant to be a compliment! My husband told me that was awful to say. Please will u take that as a high compliment?
