Marc Chua
Marc Chua asked Chris Bohjalian:

This question also comes to mind: Did you ever think up another ending for The Flight Attendant?

Chris Bohjalian Oh, I never know where my books are going. I begin with a premise, that's all. In this case, it was pretty simple: a deeply (and I mean deeply) flawed but inherently good person wakes up next to a dead body.

And I am in awe of flight attendants; I really am. They work so hard and so many passengers I see are so despicable to them. And so I decided that my main character would be a flight attendant.

Now, I knew I was going to focus on women and alcohol, and women and consent. I knew I was going to focus on one woman's reckless self-disregard.

As for the rest? I had no idea. I never do. Never.

So, I had a lot of different endings as I explored the story.

Thanks so much for reading, Marc -- and for this wonderful question.

Happy (day after) Thanksgiving.
