Do you ever read reviews on your own books? If I had anything published, that would be my only hobby.

Brent Weeks Yes, I do. But within bounds. I think it's helpful to see if the main things you're trying to communicate are getting through, but beyond that, it can be crippling.

Most artists are artists because they're sensitive. There's a significant problem in needing to have a thick skin to deal with criticism and still needing to be sensitive to create.

I find the artists who are too quick to write off all criticism as "haters" are in almost as bad of a place as those who are paralyzed by criticism.
